Established in 1948, the Korean Orthopaedic Association disbanded after the Korean War. To reestablish the Association, a gathering was held took in Myong-dong, Seoul, attended by five persons: Ki Pyung Moon, In Hee Chung, Kyung Hyun Yoon, Sang Bong Yoo, and Hyong Bok Yoo, who practiced orthopedic surgery. They agreed to convene the Association’s inaugural meeting at Seoul National University at 1:00 p.m. on May 26, coinciding with the general meeting of The Korean Medical Association. Moon was responsible for drafting the Association’s rules. On May 12, 1956, they reviewed the draft and decided to present it before the inaugural meeting. Invitation letters dated May 15, 1956 were sent to domestic organizations and individuals concerned, encouraging them to attend the meeting.

After the inaugural meeting, the meeting of the Board of Trustees will be convened on September 27, 1956, approving members as regular and associate ones and notifying them of their membership as of October 3 of the same year.
